Hi, I'm Atharva
I built To Kindle because I was annoyed with reading articles on my Kindle.
The Eureka Moment
A book, a reel, and a lot of frustration
So there I was, scrolling through social media (as one does), when I came across this reel about "Algorithms to Live By." The book sounded fascinating, so I bought it on the Kindle app. Reading it was such a great experience - no notifications, no distractions, just pure focus.
That got me thinking: "I should get a physical Kindle." Best purchase ever, by the way. But then I tried sending web articles to it using existing tools, and... yikes. The formatting was terrible. Images were broken. Paragraphs were all over the place. It was basically unreadable.
I love reading, and I kept running into this annoying problem with my Kindle. Maybe you've experienced this too - you find this great article online, send it to your Kindle, and it comes out as a jumbled mess. Have you ever tried to get a complex web article onto your Kindle? Paragraphs jumbled, images mangled... not what you'd call a pleasant reading experience.
I spent more time being frustrated than actually reading. That's when I thought, "Fine, I'll just build something that actually works." Why not create a tool to make this process smooth?
After dealing with this frustration for way too long, I decided to give it a shot. I'm definitely not the first person to have this idea, but I wanted to see if I could make something that actually works for fellow readers like me.
What I Focused On
Clean Formatting
I obsessed over making sure articles actually look good on your Kindle. No more weird spacing or broken layouts.
Keep It Simple
Paste a URL, get a file. That's it. I didn't want to overcomplicate things.
Made for Readers
I'm a reader too. Every decision was based on 'would this annoy me while reading?'
People Actually Use It
Honestly didn't expect anyone else to care, but people seem to like it!

Things I'm working on (when I have time)
Being a solo developer means progress is slower than I'd like, but here's what's on my mind:
- Send PDFs directly to Kindle (this one's tricky but I'm figuring it out)
- Handle more complex websites that currently break the formatter
- Maybe manga support? (This one's just a fun idea for now)
- Let people customize how their articles look
The Reality of Running This
Servers Cost Money (Who Knew?)
I'm running this project on my own, and every month I get a bill for the servers that process your articles. It's not huge, but it adds up when you're just one person trying to keep something useful alive.
If To Kindle saves you time or makes your reading better, and you're feeling generous, any support helps keep the lights on. But honestly, just using it and telling friends about it is awesome too.
